Hi, I'm Aine Rock

We’ve stepped into a unique time with the rise of COVID-19, and regular life as we know it has been put on pause. The world is full of unknowns… but this can actually be a beautiful time for creating the life we want, both in our careers and personal lives. Now is the most important time we have to reprioritize, foster curiosity, and take a deep look at our values. It’s time to USE all this extra time to become stronger.

But if you need a little motivation on that front, my podcast has you covered.

I was recently lucky enough to have a chat with Mar, the Founder of yoga and lifestyle brand, Yoga With Mar. Even though we spoke remotely, she brought with her a contagious entrepreneurial spirit and infectious passion for her career, all while sharing the story on how she stepped away from her job in finance to follow her dreams and create the beautiful brand you see today.

Clearly, Mar knows firsthand how to embark on the journey of making a living through your passions. Her first piece of advice? Lean into the discomfort of being honest with yourself.

Ask yourself, “Is this what you want?” When you ask yourself that question, you’ll get closer and closer to what you’re truly passionate about. There’s always going to be the normal stress of producing or maintaining a career, but you should never fall out of love with what you want to do. It’s normal to have a lot on your plate, but there’s a definite balance between “enough” and “too much” that you must be aware of if you want to stick with it.

So how can you make sure you don’t burn out? Tip number two from Mar is, if you’re starting your own brand or business, consider getting a coach. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help! You can’t do everything all at once—it really does take a village, plus a lot of practice to get to where you want to be.

Finally, Mar and I will be the first to tell you… never lose sight of mindfulness. We’re full of advice on how to use mindfulness tools to stay present while you’re creating your amazing—albeit busy—career. Mar uses yoga, whereas I tend to practice mindfulness as part of my daily to-dos. Yes, we’re in quarantine, but you still deserve space to be. In fact, that’s the only way you’ll be able to see the path you’re meant to go down.

There are so many ways to become the best version of yourself, but I’d say the most important lesson we uncovered together is to trust the process.

You CAN use this time to better yourself. Take this time as an opportunity and a gift, and don’t wish for anything else. Get creative with what you have, and your career and joy will flourish. Best of all, you might just surprise yourself.
